WHAT I AM by Suzii McKenzie

"What I am" by Suzii Mackenzie.

@sad_hips is a disabled ceramics artist, based in Belfast. Her work primarily focuses on figurative sculptures and drawings, all of which are heavily influenced by her chronic pain condition and mobility loss. This body of work, “What I Am”, concentrates on how her personal experiences have helped to shape her into who she is today, both negatively and positively, in order to raise awareness of the effects of invisible disabilities within the local community.

Each piece within the “What I Am” exhibition is based off of a line from a short monologue the artist has written about the impact of her bodily changes, and how she has gained a new love and acceptance of self.

“What I Am” is supported by the d/Deaf and Disabled Artists Support Fund, managed by University of Atypical on behalf of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Department for Communities.

Thursday 1st September 6pm, part of Late Night Art Belfast. All welcome.
